About Playa Las Tortugas

Our community hails from diverse places but we share a love for the peaceful, beautiful, adventurous refuge that is Playa Las Tortugas.

The community was initially the vision of one man - Robert Hancock - who in the late 1990s stumbled upon an uninhabited 9-mile long peninsula on the Nayarit Riveria coast.

Robert spent years of his life developing this community with an obsessive focus on maintaining the openness and expansiveness of the original working coconut plantation, which still operates today. The large areas of open space between and among all homes, thoughtfully designed landscaping to ensure privacy for all, and direct and clear views of the ocean for all villas are a testament to his visionary approach to sustainable luxurious development.
